In July, the hospital group Ameos shuts down the networks of its hospitals due to an IT attack. An information form is now available.

Following an IT attack on the Ameos hospital group [1] in July, the association has now published an information form that patients can use to submit a request for information. "Whether personal data is affected in individual cases must be checked individually and at great expense. We are therefore unable to make a reliable statement about how many people are actually affected", a spokesperson told heise online.

After filling out the information form linked on the information website [2], it will be individually checked which data was affected in which period. To accomplish this, patients must identify themselves and upload a copy of their ID document.

"The German and Austrian facilities of the Ameos Group are impacted," the spokesperson added. Furthermore, It is possible that no personal data is affected, a spokesperson told dpa. Ameos is working with the relevant authorities and external service providers to investigate the attack.

According to dpa, the Ameos Group is working closely with internal and external forensic experts, the data protection authorities of the federal states, and the Saxony-Anhalt State Criminal Police Office. Criminal charges have been filed centrally there. Patient care was ensured at all times.

The attack on the healthcare group's IT systems led to considerable disruption in the German facilities. According to Ameos, more than 500,000 patients are treated in the clinics every year. The hospital group includes more than 100 facilities at over 50 locations, including numerous mental health hospitals. Alongside Helios and Sana, Ameos is one of the largest private hospital operators in the German-speaking region.
